SIZE
Wolves are larger than foxes.
COAT
Hope it helps
The wolf’s coat is thinner and less luxuriant than the fox’s.
TAIL
The fox’s tail is longer and bushier than the wolf’s.
VOICE
Wolves howl to communicate. Foxes yelp to communicate.
SUCCESS
The fox is more popular, more successful, and more widespread than the wolf.
NECK ANATOMY
The neck of the wolf is longer than a fox.
HUMAN INTERACTION
Friendly interactions from wolves occur only in the wild, where they live; if wolves do not perceive people as a threat.
Friendly interactions from foxes are far more common. After the dog and the cat, the fox is the next common carnivore to be made fully tamed. The fox is the 3rd most common tamed animal in the world, replacing the aquatic pets.
MUZZLE
The fox’s muzzle is longer and pointier than the wolf’s.
INTERSPECIFIC INTERACTIONS
Wolves are only one part of the hierarchy in the home range, and may only yield to big cats and bears as more apex. Therefore, they have more to worry about, yet they do take big prey, competing with these larger predators. Wolves are more diurnal in nature.
Foxes are usually low in the hierarchy, but not always. Therefore, they are not always hunted or preyed upon, so there’s less to worry. When foxes are considered feral or stray (outside home range, more accustomed to urban life), they feed on human food like trash more often, but when they are in their home range they feed usually on smaller prey when in the presence of larger predators. When big enough to prey on big prey, they are not ‘true’ foxes. They are more nocturnal and crepuscular in nature. Pseudo-foxes are cathmeral in nature and sleep very late.
HIBERNATION & DENNING
There are prey available for wolves. Therefore, food in their stomach keep them warm. As a result, wolves do not hibernate. Their pups need to be secured properly from larger predators that they compete with.
Due to their wide success, foxes are very flexible. Because of this flexibility, foxes can choose where to den their pups and what to eat. Therefore, foxes hibernate in deep cold winter.
God Provides For Our Needs!
There’s nothing from wolves in terms of this.
Foxes are very important. Foxes, like cats, help people get rid of really annoying pests. Foxes eat insects, rodents, birds, snakes, and frogs/toads. Foxes are highly immune to poison and venom. The main reason why it’s very common to find foxes near apartments is because these areas are prone to have pests that would be very annoying or contagious once they are inside apartments, so they help to stop the spread or virus flying around.
