Answer:

western coastal plains :-

  • lie on the west of western ghats .
  • washed by Arabian sea.
  • they are interfered by some mountain ridges of the western ghats .
  • no deltas at western coasts.
  • less fertile due to no deltaic silt deposit action at coast.
  • suitable for ports due to broken and indented relief at the coastal line.

eastern coastal plains :-

  • lie on the east of eastern ghats .
  • washed by Bay of Bengal.
  • plain area ,due to low average heights of the ghats here, no ridges found in the plains.
  • deltas formed here by mahanadi , godavari & krishna river systems.
  • fertile due to deltas.
  • unsuitable for ports due to plain & smooth relief.
