Differentiate between xylem and phloem
Answers
Explanation:
Xylem :xylem transports water and minerals from roots to apical parts of the plant. It consists of trachids, vessels, xylem fibres and xylem parenchyma. only xylem parenchyma is living. it is dead complex tissue. Flow of direction is unidirectional.
Pholem:It transports food material from leaves to growing parts of plants. It consists sieve tubes, sieve cells companion cells, pholem fibers and pholem parenchyma. All are living except pholem fibers. It is living complex tissue. Flow of direction is multi directional.
Xylem
1) transports water and minerals
2) also provides mechanical support because it is mostly dead
3)vesselse are absent in gymnosperm
4) their tracheds have lignified wall
5) vessels don't have protoplasm
Pholem:-
1) transports organic food material
2) pholem without fibers called leptome
3) gymnosperm lack sieve tubes and companion cells
4) sieve tube has small pores for conduction of food called sieve pits
5) companion cells are present only in angiosperm and are replaced by albuminious cells in gymnosperm
