Differentiate between xylem and phloem.​

Xylem :

  • Water and mineral conducting tissue exclusively found in plants .

  • Tubuluar in nature . Meaning that look in the form of tubes.

  • Most of the cells are dead .

  • Unidirectional . Meaning that everything can flow in only one direction .

  • Show thick walls.

  • Further divided into :

  1. Xylem Fibres.
  2. Vessels
  3. Trachieds
  4. Xylem Parenchyma

Phloem :

  • Food conducting tissue.

  • Have tiny holes in the walls.

  • Movement can take place in both directions .

  • Further divided into :

  1. Phloem Fibres
  2. Companion cells
  3. Phloem Parenchyma
  4. Seive tubes.
