When a sperm and an ovum fuse together they form a zygote , the first cell of the new organism
At two months stage the embryo starts resembling the human form and it is called foetus .

There is clearly huge difference between a zygote and foetus.

Where zygote is actually :

1)The product of fusion of the nuclei of the sperm and egg is called zygote.

2)It is a unicellular structure. i.e single cell containing diploid(43 chromosomes)in nucleus.

Whereas foetus is actually formed by multiple divisions of zygote.

1)The stage of the embryo which nearly resembles a human being is called a foetus.

2)It is a multicellular structure.
