Files in a computer are used for storing data while folders in a computer are used for storing these files and other folders.

A file cannot contain another file in itself whereas a folder can contain another folder. An example of a file is word document.

Folders are what you see on your desktop.

When you install a game on your computer, all the files in it saved in a folder and you open the folder for access to the files.
