The word “canyon” is widely used in the United States, and the term “gorge”is widely used in Europe. Anyways, the dictionary says that a canyon is a deep valley having steep sides, and a gorge is a deep ravine with a river flowing through it or a ravine without the river.

Answer:

Ans When a river erodes vertically through hard rock, the valley formed is very deep and narrow

such a valley is called gorge.

When glaciers descends a valley , it melts because of the warmer climate ,its load consisting of

clay, sand ,gravel and boulder cannot be carried any longer and eventually dropped .These

deposits are called moraines.
