Metals
1. Metals are hard and solid.
2. They have metallic lustre. (meaning of lustre- shine, the special shine of the metals.
3. They are good conductors of electricity.
4. They are malleable, i.e can be drawn into wires.
5. They are Ductile, i.e. can be beaten into sheets.
6. Metals have melting and boiling points.
Examples- Copper, silver, iron, gold, aluminium,
platinum, etc.
Non-metals
1. Non-metals are brittle and soft.
2. They are poor conductors of heat and electricity.
3. They are non-malleable and non-ductile.
4. Non-metals have low melting points and boiling points.
5. Present in variety of colours.
Examples- Oxygen, hydrogen, sulphur, chlorine,
sodium, etc
