1. On the basis of malleability
- The property by which metals can be beaten into sheets or folis is called Mallebility. Gold and Silver are the best malleable metals.
Non - metals are non malleable. They break into pieces when hammered, so they are brittle.
2. On the basis of conductivity
- Metals, in general, are good conductors of heat and electricity. Silver is the best conductor followed by Copper, Gold,and aluminium and tungsten. Bismuth, iron and mercuty are poor conductor of heat and electricity.
Non - metals are generally bad or poor conductors of heat and electricity accept graphite which is a good conductor.
