Motion:-A body is said be in a state of motion if it changes its position continuously with respect to its surroundings with the passage of time.

E.g A bus running on a road, a flying bird etc

Rest:- A body is said to be at rest if it does not changes its position continuously with respect to its surroundings with the passage of time.

Eg A book lying on a table.

Motion reffers to the object is moving which it is not actually necessary to be having a velocity, for example, you are sitting in a bus and you are sitting still, but according to the people standing on the road side you are moving.

a body is said to be in motion when its position changes continously with respect to a stationary object taken as reference point.

rest refers to the unchange of position according tto a reference point. for example, you are considered in rest by the person sitting beside you on the bus.
