Situated learning is a learning process where one learns knowledge and skills from the actions of everyday situations.
Differences between situated learning and other experiential forms of learning are as follows:-
- In situated learning, students gain knowledge and skill through everyday activities. But in experiential teaching, students learn from information provided by instructors.
- In situated learning, the content of learning is present in the task itself. This is not the case in experiential learning.
- In situated learning approach, learning is dilemma - driven whereas learning is content - driven in experiential learning approach.
- In situated learning, students are presented with situations which challenge the intellectual and psycho - motor skills of the learners which they will apply in other situations. The process is completely different in experiential learning.
