The different modes of heat transmission are :

Conduction :
1.Heat is transferred by to and fro motion of medium particles about their mean position and pass on the energy.
2.Here no convection currents are formed.
3.Conduction of heat takes place mostly in solids 4.For examples metals like Mercury which is used as thermometric liquid.
Convention:
1.Here Convection currents are produced.
2.Heat is transferred from one part of system to another by motion of particles of systems.
3.Convection of heat transfer occurs in fluids like liquids and gases.
