On heating solids:temperature rises. Particles gain energy. Intermolecular forces of energy decreases. Intermolecular spaces between molecules of solids increases.

At melting point, particals of solids  become free from fixed position and get converted into liquid.

Vapourization:

On heating solids: temperature rises. Particles gain energy. Intermolecular forces of energy decreases. Intermolecular spaces between the molecules of liquid increases.

At melting point: Particles of liquid become completely free and get converted into vapour
