Hy.. .

Xylem -
1. The term derived from a Greek word “xylon’ meaning wood
2. Composed of vessels, tracheids, parenchyma and fibres.
3. Consists of mainly dead cells (only parenchyma is the living cells in the xylem).
4. Conduct water and minerals.
5. Can provide mechanical support.

Phloem -
1. The term derived from a Greek word ‘phloios’ meaning bark
2.Composed of sieve elements (sieve cells or sieve tubes), companion cells, parenchyma and fibres.
3.Consists mainly of living cells (only fibres are the dead cells in the phloem).
4.Conduct food materials.
5. Cannot provide mechanical support

your \: answer...... = >
xylem
The cell of xylem have thick walls and many of them are dead. it is responsible for the transport of water and minerals from roots to OTHER parts of the plant.

xylem \: consists \: of \: various \\ \: types \: of \: elements \: .they \: \\ are... = >
A) TRACHEIDS.....

These are dead, long ,tubular structures with tapering ends.

They transport water and minerals vertically.

B) VESSELS.....

Long tube like structures formed by a row of cells placed end to end.

They also help in conduction of water.

They are also dead cells with lignified walls.

C) XYLEM PARENCHYMA......

These are only living CELLS of Xylen with thin cells walls
It stores food and help in the sideways cobducting of water.

D) XYLEM FIBRES....

They are elongated dead cells with tapering ends and thick cell walls.
These are fibres associated with Xylen and supportive in functioning of xylem.

phloem ........ = >
It transport food from leaves to other parts of the plant.
Materials can move in both directions in it.All phleom cells are living except phloem fibres.

phleom is made of up of four TYPEs of elements
A)SIEVE TUBES.......
These are tubular cells with perforated walls

they have thin layers of cytoplasm.

B) COMPANION CELLS.....

These are small elongated cells having thin walls which are not perforated.

C) PHELOEM PARENCHYMA.....
Thin walled cells mainly function in storage and transportation of food.

D) PHLOEM FIBRES....
Thick walled cells. These are dead cells. provide mechanical strength to tissue.

☆BOTH XYLEM and PHLEOM maintain a transportation system within the plants. THERE is continuous transportation of food Water and minerals within THE PLANT.
This TRANSPOTATION is necessary for the proper growth and maintainance of THE PLANT.
