differerence between plateau region and desert region

A plateau is a geographical feature that consists of relatively level (flat) high ground, generally on par with what might otherwise be called a mesa or tableland. Most plateaus rise above a plain or other surrounding geographic features and have relatively steep, even cliff-like faces. Plateaus can vary in size from a few hundred feet to miles and miles across. Most (though not all) are the result of volcanic or seismic activity, while others are the result of erosion of ancient, above sea-level elevated seabeds.

When you hear the word 'desert', what picture does it bring to mind?  Perhaps you think of a very dry place, a place without people or plants living there. In fact, a deserted place.  Perhaps you also think of miles and miles of sand dunes, and a scorching sun burning down from a cloudless sky.

Plateau regions are leveled yet raised platforms;high ground.Plateaus are rich sources of minerals like iron.
Desert regions are large,sandy areas mostly stones and have little vegetation.Rich sources for fossil fuels.
