The second trophoc level belongs to herbivores. If this is removed then the producers belonging to the first trophic level would increase in number beyond the limit, exerting pressure on the existing resources for water and minerals. There would be lot of competition for survival leading to death of several species. Also the animals belonging to the third trophic level which may be secondary consumers or decomposers would not have enough food again leading to severe competition and death.

The primary consumers form the second trophic level,  and the tertiary consumers form the fourth trophic level.
