Prop roots :- Prop roots are roots above the ground. They are almost always adventitious. They are found in diverse plants species, including epiphytes such as orchids, tropical coastal swamp trees such as mangroves, banyan figs, the warm - temperate rainforest rata and pohutukawa tress of New Zealand.
Butterss roots :- Butterss roots are aerial extensions of lateral surface roots and from only in certain species. Butterss roots stabilized the tree, especially in shallow saturated soils, thereby resisting toppling. They are common in certain tropical tress of wet lowland environment but with few exceptions.
