metals
are ductile
have sonority
are tensile
have high strength
non metals
are non ductile

1. Ductility:
Most metals are ductile, ie they can be drawn into thin wires. For example, copper wires are used in electric circuits. Some exceptions include: mercury, zinc etc.
On the other hand, most non-metals are not ductile, ie they can't be drawn into thin wires. If you apply pressure on them, they will just simply break into pieces because they are brittle.
2. Sonority:
Sonority means that something is sonorous, ie, it produces a ringing sound if hit with something.
Most metals are sonorous. For example, bells are made of metals like iron because they are sonorous. One of the exceptions includes mercury.
However, most non-metals are not sonorous. Graphite (an allotrope of carbon) is an exception to this.
3. Tensile Strength:
Most metals are hard and strong. However, some metals like sodium and potassium can easily be cut with a knife.
Most non-metals are not very hard and strong. They are brittle. However, diamond (another allotrope of carbon) is the hardest known material on earth.
