There can be various types of dificulties and opposition that are faced by the social reformers;
Males want to dominate females
white would exploit a black
higher caste people would exploit so-called lower caste persons
believer of one religion would downgrade other religions 

For example:
Raja Ram Mohan Roy reform was abolishing the practice of Sati Pratha. He faced many criticism, religion extremist fought against him 

Mahatma Gandhi's education is more for girls than the boys. Gandhi ji was the first who Break the bridge between touchable & untouchable. He had to face difficulty of opening the eyes of conservative people
