Disease

This was the most painful and disastrous problem faced by the stone age people. The discovery which revolutionized modern medicines (antibiotics) did not occur during the twentieth century and hygiene principles were not formulated, let alone practiced back then.

Predators (specially Homotherium)

Creatures such as short-faced bears and sabertooth cats posed dreadful danger. Night meant terror. It isn’t a coincidence that most of us, modern people are terrified of darkness. We have lived thousands of years, when really were monsters in the dark. In the tropical regions horrible snakes such as black mambas, cobras and kraits crawled in the undergrowth and hung from the tree canopies.

Famine

Being cave-dwellers meant that those people did not leave their regions for long times. In such conditions, famines meant doom and death … for everyone and everything: plants, animals and humans, alike. No rain, no plants, no tubers, no fruits, no herbivores, only hunger and suffering.
