ADRENAL MEDULLA:
It is made up of modified neuroectodermal cells. It secrets two hormones, namely
Adrenaline (epinephrine)
noradrenaline ( norepinephrine).
They are together called emergency hormones or hormones of fight, flight and fright, as they rapidly mobilize the body to face stress and an emergency situation.
◆they increase the heart beat.
◆they increase alertness.
◆they increase the respiratory rate.
◆they promote the conversion of glycogen into glucose.
◆they cause dilation of pupils.
◆they cause profuse sweating.
◆they make the hair stand erect. (goose flesh)
In short, noradrenaline and adrenaline mobilize the body to face an emergency by fighting with it or running away from it.

The difference between Adrenaline and Noradrenaline-------
• Chemical structures of these hormones / neurotransmitters are different from each other with the presence of a methyl group attached to nitrogen in adrenaline, but that is a hydrogen atom in noradrenaline.
• The activated parts of the body are different for the two with more receptors for adrenaline than for noradrenaline.
