Shoots are the part above the soil. They help in transfer of nutrients from the roots.
Roots are present below the soil and they absorb the nutrients from the soil for the leaves to prepare the food.

Shoot is the upper portion of the plant, which consists of leaves, stem, branches, buds, flowers and fruits.
Whereas Root is the lower portion of the plant which is inside the soil and has only roots of the plant.
