Static friction:

1) The force of friction which exactly balances the resultant of all applied forces on a stationary object, so that it remains stationary, is called static friction.

2)Its value changes with the applied force.

3)Static friction is always larger than kinetic friction.


Dynamic or kinetic friction:

1) If two bodies in contact are in relative motion, then the force of friction between them is known as dynamic friction.

2) Dynamic or kinetic friction acts when the body is moving.
