Hello there,

Mitosis and meiosis are both processes which describe the production of new cells.  Mitosis produces 2 daughter cells which are genetically identical to the parent cell.  ... Two gametes fuse to form a zygote, a diploid cell with the full number of chromosomes. Meiosis is the type of cell division that creates egg and sperm cells.

Hope this helps

Mitosis consists of one stage whereas meiosis consists of two stages.

Mitosis produces diploid cells (46 chromosomes) whereas meiosis produces haploid cells (23 chromosomes).

Mitosis produces two identical daughter cells whereas meiosis produces four genetically different daughter cells.
