diffusion means somewhat kind of mixing of substances so therefore mixing of solids is not more likely than mixing a substance in solid

Diffusion requires particles of a substance getting inside the spaces between the atoms of the other substance. For solids this is hard a direct result of their unbending nature they can only with significant effort get inside, between two atoms. In any case, there are between sub-atomic spaces in the middle of particles of solids, anyway little they might be.
Also dissemination of liquid in that space is especially conceivable. That is what is implied by the line.
