An equation where the highest exponent of the variable (usually "x") is a square (2). So it will have something like x2. But not x3 etc. A Quadratic Equation is usually written ax2 + bx + c = 0. Example: 2x2 + 5x − 3 = 0.

Quadratic Equation:-

An equation which has the highest power of 2 is called a quadratic equation. Quadratic equations are also called two-degree equations.

The standard form of a quadratic equation is considered as ax² + bx + c. Here the value of x is unknown, a, b and c are coefficients and not equal to zero.

In short we can say that,

Standard form of quadratic equation:- ax² + bx + c

Example:- 4x² - 6x + 9, where, a=4; b=-6; and c=9.

➸ We can solve the Quadratic Equations by three methods:-

  • Factorization method
  • Quadratic formula
  • Graphing
