Cohesion is also called cohesive force. It is the force between two similar objects like water and water.
Adhesion means force between two dissimilar objects like water and wood, paper and glue.
#NOTE : The glue, fevicol, fevistick etc that we use also called adhesive because they use adhesive force or you can say adhesion.

Adhesion and Cohesion both are nothing but quality of two objects to stick together.
If we are talking about two similar kind of objects then we use the term Cohesion, otherwise if we are talking about two different time types of objects then we use the term adhesion.
Example of cohesion is magnets. Magnets stick together due to a Cohesive force (magnetic force) in them.
Water molecules stick to each other due to Cohesive forces only.
Example of adhesive is Fevicol. Fevicol sticks to any object and this is is it's advesive property.
Water molecule stick to the glass surface due to Adhesive forces.
