Digestion is the breakdown of large insoluble foodmolecules into small water-soluble foodmolecules so that they can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma. In certain organisms, these smaller substances are absorbed through the small intestine into the blood stream.

when food is entered into the stomach,the gastric gland present in the wall of the stomach produce HCL, pepsin and mucous. pepsin synthesises proteins while HCL provides an acidic medium for pepsin to act properly and mucous protects the wall of the stomach from acidic medium under normal conditions.then the food is passed to the small intestine which is regulated by spincter muscles which releases food particle in small amound at a time
