  • Digestion starts from mouth itself. In mouth there is a digestive enzyme known salivary amyase which break down complex food into simple sugar(maltose).
  • When the food reaches stomach it reacts with Hydrochloric acid that kills bacteria and make the food acidic and allow Bile juice to react.
  • The action of bile juice is that it converts acidic food into alkaline form. It breaks down complex food particles into smaller particles which is known as emulsification.
  • Further food comes into small intestine and acts with pancreatic juice which has various enzymes that digests fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
