Regular ice is made from freezing water. ... So when dry ice "melts" it goes directly into the gas form!At really high pressures, carbon dioxide does form a liquid phase. Anyway, dry ice is much, much colder because carbon dioxide freezes at a lower temperature:-79 degrees Celsius or -109 degrees Fahrenheit!

Dry ice - frozen carbon dioxide that is about -110 degrees Fahrenheit (-79 Celsius).
Has one carbon and two oxygen atoms per molecule. has no liquid state, goes from solid to gas in a process called sublimation.
Ice ice - frozen water that is about 32 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0 Celsius.
Has one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms per molecule.
Has solid, liquid and gas states.
