The electromotive force is given by the formula:

\frac{Work \ done}{Charge}

Therefore,

Work \ done = force \times displacement

Work done has dimension \Rightarrow W = [M L T^{-2}] \times [ L ]

And the dimension for the charge be,

q = current \times time

Thereby,
