Dimensions are expressed in terms of fundamental quantity raised to their powers.

To find dimensions of a given quantity, we must express that quantity in terms of fundamental quantities.

we know,

density = mass/volume

mass is a fundamental quantity. But volume is a derived quantity.

Volume = (length)³

where length is a fundamental quantity.

So,

density = mass/(length)³

Dimension of mass is M and length is L.

So, dimension of density = ML⁻³
