Let the marked price of the article be RS x

Discount=15%

Amount of discount=15%of Rsx

=15/100×x

=Rs3x/20

Therefore, Cost of the article after discount=RS[x-3x/20]=Rs17x/20

Since,sales tax is 10% on the reduced price.

Therefore, Amount of sales tax=Rs(10/100×17x/20)=Rs17x/200

Now,net amount to be paid=Rs[17x/20+17x/200]=Rs187x/200

According to the given condition

187x/200=374

=> x=Rs(374×200/187)

x=Rs400

Hence,the marked price of the article=Rs 400.

The Marked price of the article is Rs.496.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the marked price of article be x

There is a 15% discount

So, Cost including discount = x-15\%x = x-\frac{15}{100}x=x-0.15x=0.85x

Now There is sales tax of 10% on the reduced price

So, Cost including Sales tax = 0.85x+10\%(0.85x)=0.85x+0.1(0.85x)=0.935x

We are given that Dinesh bought a t-shirt for rupees 464

So, 0.935x = 464\\x=\frac{464}{0.935}\\x=496.25

Hence the Marked price of the article is Rs.496.25
