Dinitrogen and dioxygen are main constituents of air but these do not react to form oxide . Why ?

Answer:

These gases don't react with each other because nitrogen has triple bond which makes it highly stable . Due to this much larger energy is required for dissociation .This reaction is endothermic and requires very high temperature .So , they can't react directly with each other when present in air , condition should be favourable for it .
