if a matter is discussed directly from one person to. another it is said to be direct speech.
if anything is told by anybody else, it is said to be indirect speech.

Indirect speech is also known as reported speech, Indirect narration or Indirect discourse Thus indirect and direct speeches are two different ways of reporting statement of a person. In simple words, Quoting a person using your own words is called indirect speech.
