Direction : Read the following passage carefully and answer te questo
Passage:
In spring, polar bear mothers emerge from dens with three months old cubs. The
mother bear has fasted for as long as eight months but that does not stop the
young from demanding full access to her remaining reserves. If there are triplets,
the most persistent stands to gain an extra meal at the expense of others. The
smallest of the cubs forfeits many meals to stronger siblings. Females are
protective of their cubs but tend to ignore family rivalry over food. In 21 years
of photographing polar bears. I have only once seen the smallest of triplets
survive till autumn.

Answer:

Polar bears give birth during the month of November to January (Spring season).

Explanation:

  • In polar bears, the egg does not get implanted immediately after fertilization.
  • It happens only when the body of the polar bear is ready to get pregnant, birthing, and rearing the newborns.
  • This happens during September.
  • Female polar bears set up dens to give birth to their litters.
  • This happens during October to November.
  • The mother polar bears stay in the den until springtime, that is in February, March or April.
  • Then they slowly emerge from the den during March or April with three-month-old babies.
