ANSWER :

Disadvantages:
1.More difficult installation
2.Very costly
3.Bending is not easy
4.Limited in distance

Guided transmission media are more commonly known as the wired communication or bounded transmission media. The electromagnetic signals travel between the communicating devices through a physical medium/conductor. As the medium for transmission is a physical conductor, it also provides direction to the signal. But there are physical limitations of the conductor in the guided media. Like the length of the conductor, its installation cost, its maintenance, etc.
The twisted pair cable has two conductors wires wounded around each other and each surrounded by an insulating material.
he coaxial cable has a central core conductor (usually copper) enclosed in an insulating sheath, which is further encased in an outer metallic braid, it serves as both protection against noise and as a second conductor which completes the circuit.
The optical fibre which is made of glass or plastic, and it transmits signals in the form of light. The optical fibre is noise resistance, has less signal attenuation and has a higher bandwidth in comparison to twisted pair cable and coaxial cable.

Q. What is guided media ?
=> Guided Media is a type of transmission media done through the cable system.
It includes :-
a) Twisted Pair Cable
b) Coaxial Cable
c) Optical Fibres

Disadvantages of guided media according to each guided media type:-
1) Twisted Pair Cable:
i)Unsuitable for broadband applications due to low bandwidth capabilities.
ii)Supports maximum data rates 1 mpbs without conditioning and 10 mbps
      with conditioning.
iii)Incapable of carrying a signal over long distances due to high attenuation.
( Repeaters can solve this problem )

2) Coaxial Cable:
i)Expensive if compared to twisted pair cables.
ii)Not compatible with twisted pair cables.

3) Optical Fibres:
i)Installation problem( because the cables are quite fragile )
ii)Most expensive of all the cables.
 iii)Connection losses are common problems.

=> These were some of the disadvantages of Guided Media. Hope you
     understand them well.
