well the reservation system has no disadvantages at all its just a father /son thing. father votes republican son votes republican, father says reservations are bad son says reservations r bad, without giving it a proper thought
reservations aren't meant to impend on peoples rights they are just to protect the rights of the weaker sects of society
for instance lets say there are 20 SC's in a population 200 (10%) and there are only 100 posts to be filled. so the govt says that I will make sure that at least 8 SC should get a job (8%). Nothing wrong with that right? If these 20 SC's would have the same resources at their then automatically those posts would have been filled by 10 not just 8 SC's so basically the reservation says that out of those 10 seats, 8 of them are their right
when will reservations go? well in an equal society you wouldn't have to abolish reservations cause when the SC start getting the same marks as the open guys then they wont be filling up those 8 seats that are reserved for them but they will take up the 10 seats because by then the grades of the open and reserved category would have equated themselves
also, just because a student gets into a course on reservation doesn't mean that he is stupid, they all have to pass the same exams, so finally when you pass out you have competent professionals coming out , who are on the same level. You have good doctors, enggs, architects, pilots... who have the same degree of knowledge as anyone else
hope this helps =))
