3 things come to mind. Heat, it gets much hotter in the valleys, sometimes as much as 15 degrees hotter. Traffic, it sucks in the valley. While traffic sucks pretty much everywhere in So Cal, it's worse in the valley because all of the freeways converge in the valley.
