There is no disadvantage in eating in first place and Indian food is no exception. Well many would call it greasy or oily but the oil and richness is the retaurant concept. I dont remember anyone cooking in the same way in their homes. The normal household kitchen if u say used a lot of oil but the traditional Indian cooking calls for Ghee or natural mustard oil or cocnut oil which is actually good for your health.
Regarding the use of starch or sugar. Well its up to us how we balance our meals. And if i see its actually well balance. My mom will always cook Rice, dal, vegtable preparation and roti. So we have starch, protein, vitamins and minerals here that too without cooking meat.
Regarding hygiene. Its poor but you can choose. If you dont like somewhere you have plenty of options.
Disadvantage is in excess and unbalanced eating. I have seen the developed countries too, they are facing the problems like obesity and daibetes too. In addition to this they are very much allergic to many food as simple as milk, gluten, nuts and all. This is far less in India.
