It cannot be constructed on hilly slopes like Himalayas..
It need huge capital because the tracks are very costly..
The railways are difficult to construct across rivers, lakes, etc..

following are the disadvantage of rail networks :--
(1). construction cost of railways are much higher.
(2). railways can't be constructed on himalayan regions because of high relief, sparse populations, and lack of economic opportunities.
(3). railways can't also be constructed in forested ares like mp and deserted areas in rajasthan.
(4). railways today suffers from problems like ticket less travel , unnecessary chain pulling, etc.
