The narrator won an engine at the fair. But that engine was too big and carrying it was a big problem. The narrator tried to keep the engine there. But the people of the municipality started making pressure to remove the engine on it. In such a situation, the local temple priest offered the narrator to serve the elephant of his temple. So that he can remove the engine with the help of elephant. The narrator hired 50 porters to push the engine. He also hired a dismissed bus driver, Joseph, to drive the engine. But the whole result was disappointing. The elephant dragged the engine and the porters pushed hard causing the engine to deviate from its path and a brick wall collapsed.
