Before knowing about discovery of electron firstly we have to know about electron.....

so electron it is the negative charge particles which has very less mass which is neglect able and it revolve around the nucleus which consist of proton and neutron.


in 1859 Julius Plucker started the study of conduction of electricity through gases at low pressure in a discharge tube a discharge tube is consist of a hard glass cylindrical tube about 50 cm long with 2 metal electrode connected to connected to the opposite side of glass tube. and it has attached the vacuum pump during his experiment air was completely removed from the discharge tube so the pressure was 10^-4mm hg in discharge tube and high voltage of 10000v was impressed across the electrode afterwards some sort of invisible Ray moved from negative electrode to positive electrode since the ray was coming from cathode this Where called cathode ray further the cathode ray was studied by JJ Thomson and after this study JJ Thomson give the for the property of cathode ray.
