The number of atoms present in a molecule is simply called atomicity.
Explanation:
It can be valid for both the types of molecules either it is the molecule of compound or molecule of element no matter what is it. We can calculate atomicity by just counting atoms in molecule of any kind.
Example :
In CH4 i.e methane there are one carbon and four hydrogen atoms i.e total 5 atoms. This will be the atomicity of methane. Now in O2 i.e oxygen gas there are two oxygen atoms. 2 will be the atomicity of the oxygen gas.
