1
Rainfall and temperature can affect the rate in which rocks weather. High temperatures and greater rainfall increase the rate of chemical weathering. 2. Rocks in tropical regions exposed to abundant rainfall and hot temperatures weather much faster than similar rocks residing in cold, dry regions.

The factors affecting chemical weathering are as follows :-

\rule{300}{1}

1.Oxidation

2.Hydration

3.Carbomation

4.Solution

\rule{300}{1}

Oxidation :- When the oxygen in the air and water reacts with minerals in the rocks, oxidation takes place by contact with air and water containing Oxygen.

Hydration :- The chemical reaction of water with minerals, changes the proportion and composition of rocks and minerals.

\rule{300}{1}

Carbonisation :- Carbonisation is the reaction of carbonic acid on minerals. Rain water, when mixed with carbon dioxide in air forms a weak sollution of carbonic acid.
