Given quadratic equation is 2x² + 3√2 x - 4 = 0

Compare given equation with ax² + bx + c = 0 , we get ,

  • a = 2 , b = 3√2 , c = -4

We know that discriminant is  " b² - 4ac "

⇒ ( 3√2 )² - 4(2)(-4)

⇒ 18 + 32

50

So discriminant of the equation 2x² + 3√2 x - 4 = 0 is " 50 "

Answer:

50

Step-by-step explanation:

Given a quadratic equation such that,

2x^2 + 3√2x - 4 = 0

To find it's discriminant.

We know that,

For a quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0, it's discriminant is given by,

D = b^2 - 4ac

Here, on Comparing, we get,

  • a = 2
  • b = 3√2
  • c = -4

Subatituting the values, we get,

=> D = {(3√2)^2 - 4(2)(-4)}

=> D = (18 + 32)

=> D = 50

Hence, required value of discriminant is 50
