Naxalite movement started when the rich landlords were harassing the poor with low wages and were hoarding for themselves.  This first started in West Bengal and the Naxalite members spread out themselves to various places and Tripura is one such place.  In Tripura, as most of the people depend on agriculture and as they were not allowed to practice Jhum, that is, burning of certain land before cultivation, in the reserved forest area, Naxalites started fighting for their rights.  Nowadays Naxalites movements are curbed and in some places it has been eliminated.
