Discuss a friend spending time on watching TV? What problem can lead to? how can he spend it in productive way?

He can study or play instead of wasting time in front of T.V

according to me, T.V. distracts us from studies. we loose interest in studies and start concentrating on T.V. however it is also useful in either way.watching channels which gives you knowledge you can watch like discovery, animal planet, news channels etc....,  we can also watch TV for break while studying but not for too long.
