Sports and games are an integral part of our country's tradition and history. They can motivate intrinsically and gives pleasure and enjoyment. The regional play activities are the traditional games played locally and regionally. Such regional play activities are as follows:

Pallanghuzi:

  • It is a traditional game played in South Indian states especially Tamilnadu and Kerala.
  • The game is played in a rectangular board. The board consists of two rows and seven columns with fourteen pits.
  • To initiate the game, the pits are filled with six coins each.

Gilli danda:

  • The game gilli danda also known as kitti pul is played popularly in rular villages and small town in the Asian subcontinents.
  • This game is similar to cricket.Some believed gilli danda to be the origin of cricket.
  • There is a small stick called gilli and a large stick called danda.

Kabaddi:

  • Kabaddi is a contact sport originated in the Indian subcontinent.
  • It is a very popular sport in India and is played mainly among villagers.
  • It is a team sport where two teams compete for getting higher scores.
