With the help of total quality management principles Xerox fought back into the market from which it had lost its grip.

The company started bench marking its processes, though not against itself, but against the industry standards, and fought itself to be falling short by a long shot.

As a result many new practices were introduced such as reducing suppliers by a huge numbers, application of concurrent Engineering practices, introduction of teams of cross functional nature was initiated.

This resulted in dramatic results.

Quality issues were reduced by 66%, the cost of manufacturing was reduced to 50%, and the time taken for development was reduced by 66%.
